Guest Announcement: Tim Maughan

The staff of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s annual student-run anime, sci-fi, and gaming convention, Genericon, are pleased to welcome the event’s newest guest, Bristol-based science fiction author Tim Maughan.

In 2011, Tim published the award-winning Paintwork, a collection of three short stories dealing with the roles of art, celebrity, and globalization in a very near, and strangely familiar, future. His latest short story, “Limited Edition” (published in New Scientist’s Arc Magazine), has been shortlisted for the British Science Fiction Association 2012 short fiction award.

Outside the realm of fiction, Tim is one of the United Kingdom’s best known writers on Japanese animation and comics, a resident blogger for Tor.com, and a freelance contributor to magazines such as Icon and SFX.

Genericon XXVI will be held from March 1 to 3, 2013, and the staff looks forward to working with Tim to put together another a great experience for the attendees this year.
